The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the FIA Additional Director General North. The team includes the Islamabad director, deputy directors of anti-corruption and administration, and an inspector.
The inquiry was initiated following recommendations from the Senate Subcommittee on Interior. Initially, notices have been issued to 108 companies allegedly involved in tax evasion amounting to Rs389 billion.
The FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad has also issued a legal notice to a private edible oil company over alleged tax evasion involving imported materials in tax-free zones in Malakand and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to sources, companies have allegedly evaded Rs1.12 trillion in taxes on imported goods. The FIA has summoned the owners and managing director of the edible oil company to appear before the Islamabad Zone at 10am.
The company has been directed to submit complete factory records and Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registration documents. It has also been asked to provide details of all imported goods and bank accounts maintained to date.
The notice further seeks details of payments made through informal channels, including hawala and hundi, as well as relevant customs records.
