Filing of nomination papers starts tomorrow

Supreme Court judge remarks that why everyone wants the general elections to be further delayed.

ISLAMABAD: While heading a three-member bench, acting Chief Justice of Pakistan Sardar Tariq Masood wondered why everyone wants the February general elections to be further delayed.”

The bench dismissed petitions against delimitation of constituencies and said it cannot be done after the announcement of the election schedule, which has been announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The ruling further boosted ECP’s resolve to hold the elections on February 8. According to its schedule, nomination papers can be filed for both the provincial and national assemblies from December 20 (tomorrow).

Before by the process starts, the district returning officers and returning officers across the country will take oath on December 19 (today). The nomination papers can be submitted till Dec 24.

From December 25 to 30, these papers will be scrutinized while objections can be filed by Jan 3 and appeals will be taken up by Jan 10.

The revised list of candidates will be announced on Jan 11 while the candidates will be allotted symbols on January 13.
