ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday warned that the court will order an FIR against the caretaker prime minister and the interior minister if missing Baloch students were not recovered by January 10.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani passed the remarks while hearing a petition seeking the recovery of about 50 missing Baloch students.
When the hearing was started, Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Awan informed the court that 22 of the missing students had been recovered and they had reached home.
He said efforts were being made for the recovery of the remaining 28 students.
Justice Kayani remarked that it was a simple case of human rights violation and shows that there is no law in the country.
Is this allowed in any civilized society, he asked the attorney general. Moreover, every missing person after being recovered comes up and says they don’t want to pursue the case about his disappearance, he added.
Caretaker interior minister Sarfraz Bugti in the court contended that there are examples when persons declared missing had gone to Afghanistan or had died while fighting security forces.
“If any single person is missing it is our responsibility to trace him and we will recover the missing persons.”
The judge remarked that today was 22nd hearing of the case, you should gave call the agencies and taken an update in the missing Baloch students. He also asked why no action was taken against any agency for getting citizens picked up and disappeared them.
He added that if a person was involved in any illegal case or in anti-state activities there are laws to take action against them.
The judge said the army had rendered sacrifices for the country and to restore peace but there are other aspects too, there are human rights and the rights of the citizens are guaranteed under the constitution.
The judge warned that if the remaining missing students were not recovered till Jan 10, he will order the registration of an FIR against the caretaker prime minister, interior minister and the secretary defense and you all would have to go home.
The court then adjourned the hearing of the case till Jan 10.
