Fire outside hotel hosting PSL players

PSL CEO Salman Naseer says fire did not enter hotel’s interior and no PSL player or franchise member faced any distress.

ISLAMABAD: A fire broke out on Thursday outside Serena Hotel Islamabad where Pakistan Super League (PSL) teams and several local and international players are staying, raising initial concerns over their safety.

Sources said the blaze started in the outer unit of the hotel’s generator system, prompting hotel management to shut down the elevators as a safety measure. Thick smoke was seen rising from the affected area, but emergency response teams arrived swiftly.

Firefighters managed to bring the situation under control before the flames could spread to the main building. Fortunately, no injuries were reported and all players remained safe in their rooms throughout the incident.

PSL CEO Salman Naseer confirmed that the fire did not enter the hotel’s interior and no PSL player or franchise member faced any distress.

“There is no reason for concern. The fire was put out in time and everything is back to normal,” he assured.

The incident occurred just hours before the opening ceremony of the 10th season of the Pakistan Super League, set to begin in Rawalpindi with performances by top artists and a spectacular fireworks and laser show.
