KARACHI: The Running Club Malir Cantt Pacers organized the city’s first-ever Malir Cantt Marathon, paying tribute to the martyrs and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
The event featured races in three categories: 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km, with over 200 participants, including 149 men and 52 women.
In the men’s 10 km race, Ahmed Hassan claimed first place with a time of 44 minutes, followed closely by Mehboob Rehman (45 minutes) and Saeed Munir (46 minutes).
In the women’s 10 km category, Fatima Mazhar finished first in 55 minutes, while Shanze Ahmed and Maryam Reid completed the race in 1 hour 8 minutes and 1 hour 9 minutes, respectively.
The 5 km race saw Fawaz Butt taking the top spot in 19 minutes, followed by Abdul Hannan and MCP Ahsan Tahir. Hina Kamran led the women’s 5 km race, finishing in 32 minutes, with Afra Saleem and Fatima Hashmi coming in second and third.
Cash prizes of Rs.10,000 were awarded to the winners of the 10 km race, while second and third place finishers received Rs. 5,000 each. Brigadier Hasnat Ahmed, Station Commander of Malir Cantt, attended as the chief guest and presented the awards.
