Five killed, over 40 injured in gas bowser explosion

MULTAN:  At least five people were killed and over 40 injured in an explosion in a gas-filled bowser in the Industrial Estate of Multan, Rescue 1122 and police officials said.

According to rescue officials, the LPG bowser caught fire due to the explosion and pieces of the bowser exploded and fell on the nearby population. After several hours of struggle, the fire was extinguished. However, along with the human casualties, the fire damaged property worth millions of rupees.

City Police Officer Multan Sadiq Ali said that many houses were destroyed and animals were burnt to death in the gas bowser explosion. He said that the gas leak from the LPG bowser continued and the area had been evacuated.

On the other hand, the District Emergency Officer said that an emergency had been declared in Nishtar Hospital to treat the injured people.

The emergency officer said that electricity and gas supply in and around the accident site had been shut down while Multan-Muzaffargarh Road was now opened for traffic.
