Five Policemen Martyred in Six Terror Attacks Across KP

PESHAWAR: At least five police personnel were martyred and five others injured in a series of six coordinated terrorist attacks across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday, police said.

According to police officials, militants targeted security personnel simultaneously in Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Peshawar, and Bannu districts. The attacks involved both light and heavy weapons.

In Upper Dir, a police mobile came under fire, resulting in the martyrdom of three policemen and injuries to three others.

In Lower Dir’s Lajbook area, militants attacked a police checkpoint, killing one constable.

In Peshawar’s suburban Hassan Khel area, assailants opened fire on a police station, triggering a prolonged exchange of gunfire. One policeman was martyred and another injured in the clash.

In Bannu’s Mazang area, militants attacked a police checkpoint but were repelled in a retaliatory operation, forcing them to flee.

District Police Officer Bannu, Saleem Abbas Kalachi, praised the bravery of the policemen, stating that they “stood their ground and forced the attackers to retreat.”

The attacks mark one of the deadliest coordinated assaults on police in recent months, underscoring the ongoing militant threat in the province.
