Powerhouse Headworks Washed Away, Gilgit City Without Power

GILGIT: Severe flooding in the Naltar area of Gilgit has once again damaged the 18-megawatt power complex, causing major disruption to electricity supply to the city.

According to the Power Division, the temporary headworks of the complex were washed away due to the rising waters of the Naltar stream.

The floods have also blocked access for excavators and other machinery, temporarily halting rescue and repair operations. As a result, electricity supply to Gilgit city has been completely cut off, leaving the entire city in blackout. Local authorities are working to restore normalcy.

The Power Division stated that repairs to the power house will resume once the floodwaters recede and conditions allow safe access.
