ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly condemned Israel for stopping the “Global Samoud Flotilla” carrying humanitarian supplies to Gaza and has demanded the immediate release of all detained activists.
In a statement, the Foreign Office stated that Pakistan denounces in the strongest terms Israel’s interception of the flotilla, which consisted of more than 40 civilian boats with nearly 500 international activists on board. The mission was aimed at delivering critically needed humanitarian aid to the besieged people of Gaza.
The statement underscored that the unlawful detention of the flotilla’s participants represents a blatant violation of international law as well as fundamental human rights principles, stressing that this reckless action has endangered the lives of innocent civilians.
The Foreign Office further noted that the incident is part of Israel’s continued aggressive conduct and its prolonged, illegal blockade of Gaza, which has left more than two million Palestinians trapped in dire humanitarian conditions.
It emphasized that obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid constitutes a serious breach of Israel’s obligations as an occupying power under the Fourth Geneva Convention.
