Fog engulfs plain areas of Punjab, motorway closed

Motorway Police advise citizens to avoid unnecessary travel especially in evening and at night.

LAHORE: Due to the prolonged dry spell and low temperature, fog has engulfed plain areas of Punjab, forcing the closure of the motorway at separate places.

The National Highways and Motorway Police advised motorists to avoid unnecessary travel and check weather advisory before using the motorway and highways. 

Different parts of Lahore are severely affected with visibility down to a few metres. The Lahore-Sialkot motorway has been closed up to Sambrial, the police said. 

Moreover, M2 is closed till Kot Sarwar, M3 from Faizpur to Samandri and M5 from Sher Shah to Uch Sharif.

The motorway police also said that suitable traveling time was from 10am to 6pm, adding travellers can contact helpline 135 before setting off for an update on the situation.
