Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said Iran and South Korea have maintained relations for more than 64 years based on mutual respect.

He said the Iranian people were currently defending themselves against US aggression, adding that the presence of any country’s military forces in the Persian Gulf or Strait of Hormuz would be viewed as aggression.

Baghaei also said Iran would not accept any country participating in US military operations in the Strait of Hormuz. He urged sovereign states not to bow to American pressure or threats.

The Iranian spokesperson accused the United States of imposing what he called a brutal war on the region and then seeking to make the rest of the world bear its costs.

Baghaei said the Strait of Hormuz had been fully open before the US and Israeli attacks, but claimed that US actions had disrupted commercial shipping and contributed to rising energy prices.

He accused Washington of attempting to blame Iran for disruptions that he said were caused by its own actions and described the US effort to hold Iran responsible for regional instability as “ridiculous.”

Tensions around the strategic waterway have raised concerns over maritime trade and global energy supplies, with the Strait of Hormuz serving as a major route for international oil shipments.
