MUZAFFARABAD: Former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and President of the Muslim Conference, Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan, has resigned from the membership of the Azad Kashmir Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
According to details, Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan submitted a written resignation to the Speaker of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. In his resignation letter, he stated that he had been nominated as a member of the Public Accounts Committee without prior consultation, which prompted him to step down from the committee.
Sources said that following the formation of the new government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the Public Accounts Committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Majid Khan, who was elected on the refugees’ seat. Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan was included as a committee member during this process.
However, citing the lack of consultation regarding his nomination, the former prime minister decided to relinquish his membership of the committee.
