ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad has granted interim bail to former Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi until September 18.
The case pertains to arrest warrants issued in connection with the PTI protest held on November 26. Niazi had approached the court to seek relief against the warrants.
Duty Judge Muhammad Ali Warraich heard the petition and, after arguments, approved bail while directing Islamabad Police not to arrest the former premier during this period.
Appearing on Niazi’s behalf were Advocates Sardar Masroof, Zahid Bashir Dar, and Murtaza Hussain Toor.
It may be recalled that arrest warrants for the PTI AJK president and former prime minister had earlier been issued by Karachi Company Police Station in Islamabad.
