KHUZDAR: Four Levies personnel were martyred in a deadly attack on a security check post in the Samand area of Khuzdar late Friday night, officials confirmed on Saturday.
According to Levies sources, unidentified armed assailants launched a surprise assault under the cover of darkness, opening indiscriminate fire on the check post. The sudden and intense attack claimed the lives of four Levies officials on duty.
A Levies spokesperson stated that despite being caught off guard, the personnel responded with exceptional bravery. “Our men fought valiantly against the attackers in extremely challenging conditions,” he said.
In the aftermath of the incident, a large contingent of security forces rushed to the site. The area was cordoned off, and a search operation was initiated to locate and apprehend the attackers. Authorities have vowed that those responsible for the attack will be brought to justice.
The bodies of the martyred personnel were shifted to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities.
This tragic incident underscores the ongoing threat posed by militant elements in Balochistan, despite continuous efforts by law enforcement agencies to restore peace and stability in the region.
