PESHAWAR: Four transgender persons were injured when armed persons opened fire on them in the Faqirabad area of Peshawar on Monday evening.
Police said that the armed men escaped after firing and efforts were underway to trace and arrest them.
The injured were shifted to hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger. Similar incidents had also occured in Peshawar and some other parts of Khyber Pakthunkhwa in the past.
In many such attacks, transgender persons were killed and injured. Despite government efforts in the past to ensure basic rights to the community, transgender persons face hardship in their daily life in the country.
