ISLAMABAD: The framework agreement on the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan railway project has been agreed upon and will be finalized soon.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with Afghanistan’s acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi and discussed the railway project and other matters.
According to a Foreign Office spokesman, the Afghan Foreign Minister described as this a very positive development in bilateral relations. Mr Muttaqi said that Afghanistan had also decided to take countermeasures against terror elements.
The two foreign ministers reviewed the implementation of the April 19 decisions and agreed to continue working together for trust building. During the conversation, the importance of the Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan railway project was emphasized and the framework agreement of the project was agreed to be finalized soon.
