Islamabad: Pakistan Railways is set to enhance services with the introduction of free Wi-Fi at 40 railway stations across Punjab, announced Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi.

This is part of an ongoing effort to modernize Pakistan’s railway infrastructure, which includes the ML1 Railway Corridor development.

Speaking on a private news channel, Abbasi highlighted the government’s commitment to prioritizing the modernization of railway infrastructure in Pakistan.

He emphasized that the government’s focus is on making significant improvements in Pakistan Railways, aligning it with international standards to improve services and efficiency.

The modernization project aims to enhance governance, introduce new technologies, and improve the overall operational performance of Pakistan Railways.

Abbasi further stated that Rs. 350 billion would be invested by the Punjab government to improve eight railway branch routes across the province.

This investment is expected to help improve the connectivity between various regions of Punjab, making the railway system more accessible and reliable for passengers.

One of the key highlights of this modernization initiative is the installation of free Wi-Fi at 40 railway stations in Punjab. This service will provide a much-needed convenience for travelers, allowing them to stay connected during their journeys.

Abbasi also mentioned that similar talks are ongoing with the Sindh government for potential collaborations aimed at upgrading railway routes in other regions of the country.

Minister Abbasi also provided an update on the progress of the ML-1 project, which is expected to bring substantial benefits to Pakistan Railways once completed.

The project will modernize the Karachi to Peshawar railway corridor, enhancing the efficiency and reliability of the network.

In addition, the ML-2 project is also under preparation, signaling continued efforts to modernize the railway infrastructure throughout Pakistan.
