According to the department, action was taken following repeated violations of the theatre’s designated operating hours and a report submitted by the Punjab Council of the Arts.

The department said Friends Theatre Sahiwal remained open beyond the permitted hours on several occasions. The theatre was reportedly found operating late on multiple days, while private shows were also held until late at night.

The report further pointed out that currency notes and flowers were thrown at performers during theatre shows, which was described as a violation of the prescribed standard operating procedures.

The Information and Culture Department said the theatre had clearly violated the conditions of its temporary permit.

During the one-month suspension period, the theatre will not be allowed to stage dramas or conduct any other theatrical activities.
