LAHORE: The Sui Northern Gas Company has started unannounced gas load shedding during cooking hours, raising concerns over a worsening gas shortage in Lahore.
Despite a scheduled supply of gas three times a day—5:30 AM to 9:00 AM, 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, and 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM—residential consumers are reportedly not receiving gas during peak cooking hours. The company cited a shortfall in the system and current geopolitical tensions as the main reasons for the disruption.
Authorities warned that the ongoing gas crisis could further strain household energy supplies, especially during meal preparation times. Consumers are urged to monitor updates and manage gas usage efficiently until the situation stabilizes.
The shortage comes amid increasing pressure on the company’s infrastructure, highlighting the challenges faced by Pakistan’s gas sector in meeting urban demand during critical hours.
