GB to be brought at par with developed areas: Zardari

Says Gilgit-Baltistan has lots of potential for promotion of tourism and natural resources.

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has said that he will play his role in bringing Gilgit-Baltistan at a par be with developed areas of Pakistan.

President Zardari was talking to Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Syed Mehdi Shah who met him in Islamabad on Thursday.

On the occasion, the president emphasized the need to invest in the socioeconomic development of people of Gilgit-Baltistan. He said the region has lots of potential for promotion of tourism and also had huge reserves of natural resources.

The governor requested the president for the establishment of a medical university in the region, Radio Pakistan reported.

The president assured the governor that he would play his role in opening a medical institute and launching development projects in Gilgit-Baltistan.
