Gen Asim Malik named new ISI chief

Currently working as adjutant general at GHQ, the new chief of spy agency will take over on Sept 30.

RAWALPINDI: Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik has been appointed as the new director general of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), according to media reports on Monday.

Currently working as the adjutant general at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi the new chief of Pakistan’s premier spy agency will take charge on Sept 30.

Lt General earlier commanded an infranty division in Balochistan and an infranty brigade in Waziristan besides working in other fields of the army including as an instructor at the Command and Staff College Quetta.

Asim Malik belongs to a military family and his father Ghulam Muhammad had retired from the army as a lieutenant general. Hus father was popularly known as General GM.

At present, the ISI is being headed by Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum who was appointed on the post on October 6, 2021.
