GILGIT: Gilgit: A search operation is underway in the Hushay Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan after two German female climbers were caught in a landslide while attempting to summit Laila Peak.
According to Gilgit-Baltistan government spokesperson Faizullah Firaq, one of the climbers, Marina Eva, was rescued yesterday. The second climber, Laura Dahlmeier, is injured and missing.
The spokesperson confirmed that a helicopter and a specialized search team are actively involved in locating the missing climber. Ground teams are also participating in the rescue efforts due to the difficult terrain.
The incident occurred on July 28, when the two German mountaineers were climbing Laila Peak, a prominent peak in the Karakoram range, and were struck by a landslide.
Efforts are ongoing, and authorities remain hopeful for a positive outcome.
