The welcoming ceremony took place at the German Ministry of Defence, where President Steinmeier received his Pakistani counterpart. The national anthems of Pakistan and Germany were played during the ceremony, followed by the presentation of the guard of honour.
President Zardari’s visit comes as Pakistan and Germany mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.
The two countries have maintained longstanding diplomatic and economic ties, with cooperation spanning several areas of mutual interest.
The visit is seen as an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations, deepen economic engagement and expand cooperation between Islamabad and Berlin.
