Germany’s New Consul General Begins Tenure in Karachi

KARACHI: Germany’s new Consul General, Thomas Eberhard Schlesse, has officially taken charge in Karachi, bringing with him extensive experience in international diplomacy.

Schlesse has previously served as Germany’s Consul General in Toronto, Canada, and as Ambassador to Croatia, as well as holding senior positions in the German Foreign Ministry, including overseeing visa law and administrative court matters.

Since assuming office, Schlesse has started meeting prominent political and business leaders in Sindh to strengthen Pakistan-Germany relations. He held talks with Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Governor Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori on mutual interests and cooperation initiatives.

He also engaged with representatives from the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) to discuss opportunities for boosting bilateral trade.

A legal expert with a Master’s degree in Public Administration, Schlesse completed internships in Cologne, Speyer, and Jakarta.

The German Consulate General in Karachi, under his leadership, is committed to furthering economic, cultural, and diplomatic ties between Germany and Pakistan.
