The Central Board of Film Censors and Punjab’s censor board have already cleared the film for public exhibition. However, the Sindh Board of Film Censors has refused to allow its screening in the province.

During the hearing, the filmmakers’ lawyer, Muiz Baig, argued that under the Sindh Motion Pictures Act 2011, a film can only be denied a censor certificate on specific legal grounds.

He said the film highlights the issue of ghost schools and has already received an award for Best Direction at the Asian Film Festival in the UK.

The lawyer further told the court that the filmmakers were neither issued a show-cause notice nor given an opportunity to present their case before the decision was taken.

The Sindh High Court issued notices to the Sindh government and other respondents, directing them to submit their replies by August 21.
