TANK: Unknown people late last night detonated an explosive device at a girls’ primary school in the Gara Budha area of District Tank in Khyber Pakthunkhwa completely destroying the building, officials confirmed Friday.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Shabbir Hussain Shah, the blast razed the entire structure to the ground, but fortunately no loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident.
Following the explosion, police forces cordoned off the area and initiated a comprehensive search operation to track down those responsible. The DPO added that security has been tightened in surrounding localities to prevent any further untoward incidents.
While the motive behind the attack is yet to be established, law enforcement sources note that militant groups have previously targeted educational institutions, particularly girls’ schools, in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in an attempt to discourage female education.
Authorities have vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore the destroyed facility so that students can safely resume their education.
