Glacier Burst in Ghizer Causes Flooding, Villages Submerged

GILGIT: In Ghizer district of Gilgit-Baltistan, a glacier burst in the Tali Das area triggered severe flooding, submerging multiple villages.

A Pakistan Army helicopter was deployed to assist people trapped by the flood and successfully evacuated several individuals to safer locations.

Locals reported that the flood brought along large boulders, which blocked the river flow at Tali Das, causing the river to form a temporary lake. As a precaution, low-lying areas were evacuated.

According to Faizullah Firaq, spokesperson for the Gilgit-Baltistan government, the glacier burst occurred around 4 a.m., and the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan is personally monitoring the situation. More than 50 people have been rescued following the incident.
