JEDDAH: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said global cooperation is essential to ensure peace, stability, and development in Palestine and Somalia.

Addressing a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Ishaq Dar highlighted the need to protect peace, security, and institutional and development initiatives across different countries.

He warned the international community about the negative consequences of illegal actions and stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between developed nations and international institutions.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed serious concern over ongoing challenges in Africa and Asia, noting that several countries are facing humanitarian and economic losses, weak institutions, and the failure of development projects.

Referring specifically to Somalia, he said that the federal government has made limited progress in reconciliation, constitutional reforms, and the establishment of state institutions.

He stressed that supporting stability and development in Somalia is crucial for all countries, warning that irresponsible or unlawful actions violate international law and harm religious freedom, development, and regional peace.

Ishaq Dar called on OIC member states to play an active role in promoting peace, development, and social harmony, and to avoid any actions that could endanger regional stability and security.
