LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif distributed cheques among youth under the Prime Minister Youth Business and Agriculture Loan scheme in Lahore on Sunday.
The scheme is aimed at ensuring provision of low-interest loans on easy terms to talented youth to enable them start their own businesses.
Addressing the ceremony, he said prices of petroleum products have been decreased due to strengthening of rupee against dollar. He said International Monetary Fund’s program is challenging for the country but bold decisions will be helpful for stabilizing the economy.
The Prime Minister recalled that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had given laptops in the hands of youth instead of Kalashnikov.
He said the government is committed to empower the youth of the country as empowering them was a key to ensure the development and prosperity.
Shehbaz Sharif urged the people to keep in their minds the destruction caused to the county during the last four years while casting their votes in upcoming elections.
He said that his government would hand over the power to an interim setup before the completion of its tenure next month. The five-year term of the National Assembly commenced under the then-PTI government on August 12, 2018 and is set to be completed under a PM-Shehbaz-led ruling coalition.
However, the prime minister has indicated that the transfer of powers to a caretaker setup will take place a bit before the assembly’s tenure runs out.
