ISLAMABAD: The government has begun reviewing changes to the scheme for importing used vehicles.
Under the proposed changes, the Personal Baggage Scheme may be discontinued, while the Gift Scheme and Transfer of Residence Scheme could be made stricter.
The Ministry of Commerce has prepared a summary and sent it to the Cabinet’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), recommending the removal of the Personal Baggage Scheme.
The other two schemes are suggested to be tightened to prevent misuse. The ministry has also recommended implementing measures to ensure that these schemes are not exploited.
