Govt employee faces action for May 9 violence

UET Mardan assistant controller examinations is already arrested by police.

MARDAN: An assistant controller examinations at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Mardan is the first government employee to have been penalized for involvement in the May 9 vandalism.

Sources told media that the university management had issued an order suspending Muhammad Ismail from service. 

He has already been arrested by local police and is in the Mardan jail.

Following the brief arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan in a graft case in Islamabad on May 9, his party supporters took to the streets and targeted military installations mostly  in KP and Punjab. 

It is alleged that the assistant controller examinations of the Mardan University, Muhammad Ismail, led a protest rally and blocked the main road in Mardan and chanted slogans against Pakistan Army.

According to the FIR registered at the City police station, Ismail also uploaded a video of hateful speeches made at the protest on social media.
