Petrol, which was priced at Rs320.73 per litre on July 22, is now being sold at Rs358.77 per litre, marking an increase of Rs38.04 in just over six weeks.

During the same period, the price of high-speed diesel has increased by Rs14.56 per litre, rising from Rs367.21 on July 22 to Rs381.77 per litre.

The latest increase has further pushed up fuel costs for households, transporters and businesses, with higher petroleum prices also likely to add pressure on transportation and other operating expenses.

The petroleum levy on both petrol and diesel remains unchanged at Rs80 per litre.

The government recently increased the petrol price by Rs12.90 per litre, taking it to Rs358.77. The price of high-speed diesel was also raised by Rs3.72 per litre to Rs381.77.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) determined the latest prices, while the Petroleum Division issued the notification.

The new prices came into effect on Tuesday, September 8, and will remain applicable for one day under the government’s daily pricing mechanism.

The continued rise in fuel prices has raised concerns over the impact on the cost of living, transportation and prices of goods and services, as consumers face substantially higher petrol costs compared with July.
