Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, the finance minister said the government was working to shift Pakistan’s economy away from dependence on external assistance towards trade and investment.

Muhammad Aurangzeb said the process of economic development was closely linked to increased investment and the expansion of business activities. He added that the government was taking measures to ensure economic stability while laying the foundation for sustainable growth.

He said increasing exports, attracting investment and improving productivity were among the government’s key priorities. According to the minister, export financing could play an important role in boosting the country’s exports and strengthening the competitiveness of Pakistani businesses in international markets.

The finance minister said creating a favourable environment for business and investment remained a priority for the government. He stressed that the growth of the private sector would help generate new employment opportunities and contribute to broader economic activity.

Muhammad Aurangzeb reiterated that the government was seeking to transform Pakistan’s economic model from one based on aid and external support to one driven by trade, investment and private-sector growth.

He also emphasised the need to further strengthen cooperation with international financial institutions and the business community. He said coordinated efforts by the government, private sector and other stakeholders were necessary to ensure that the benefits of economic growth reached the people.

The minister said sustained economic progress would require continued investment, stronger exports, greater productive capacity and an environment in which businesses could expand and create jobs.
