ISLAMABAD: The federal government has formally assured prominent Sunni scholars that it will not interfere in the affairs of madrasas and mosques, reaffirming its commitment to respect their autonomy.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the residence of Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman in Karachi, where he met with a delegation of distinguished Sunni clerics led by Mufti Muneeb.
The meeting involved comprehensive discussions on recent incidents, while the scholars presented their perspectives and concerns on a range of issues to the Interior Minister.
Minister Naqvi carefully listened to the views of the scholars and gave a firm assurance that all legitimate matters would be addressed.
During the meeting, it was agreed that a detailed session would soon be convened in Islamabad, where all pending and legitimate issues would be resolved on a priority basis.
Speaking on the occasion, Naqvi emphasized that the government would not intervene in the management of madrasas and mosques. He also stated that a focal person would be available at all times to ensure smooth communication between all parties involved.
