Govt trying to appease both US and China: Fazal

Says Washington being assured of closing CPEC while China has been promised that there would be no compromise on it.

LAKKI MARWAT: The chief of Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Maulana Fazlur Rahman has alleged that the government of Pakistan has promised with the US to close down the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)  project.

Addressing a public gathering in Lakki Marwat city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he also said that the government was also assuring China to continue and complete the CPEC project, and in this way, he added, the government was taking money from both the countries which are rival to each other.

He said that international forces were trying to destroy Pakistan economically. He accused America of supporting terrorists in the world and added that America never fought terrorists but was supporting them in different countries especially in Pakistan.

The JUI chief also said that he had never accepted the election of February 8 as the election results were changed and doctored and the government was formed on the basis of the rigged elections.

The veteran religious leader and politician also said that the opposition parties were united in their stance that nobody would be allowed to occupy resources of Khyber Pakthunkhwa and Balochistan.

Maulana Fazal lost the elections against a PTI candidate from his hometown of Dera Ismail Khan. However, he won a National Assembly seat from Balochistan.

Maulana has refused to join the coalition government and has been a strong opponent of the government and criticizing the military establishment for bringing down the government through rigged elections.
