ISLAMABAD: Islamabad is scheduled to come alive tonight with a grand musical program at Sports Complex marking the beginning of Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations.
The event, featuring patriotic songs and performances, set the tone for tomorrow’s nationwide festivities.
Preparations are in full swing across the country to celebrate not only Independence Day but also Pakistan’s recent victory in the Marka-e-Haq operation. The government had announced a public holiday in the federal capital on August 13 as well.
Buildings in major cities are decorated with national flags, buntings, and lights, while citizens proudly display flags on their vehicles and rooftops.
Markets and roadside stalls are bustling with shoppers buying flags, buntings, caps, and children’s clothing in green and white, adding to the festive atmosphere.
This year’s celebrations are especially vibrant following the success of operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos under Marka-e-Haq, which has further energized national pride. Radio Pakistan has scheduled special programs throughout the day to commemorate both the country’s independence and its recent military success.
In several cities, civic authorities have arranged flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural events at public squares and government offices. Schools and colleges are also hosting special programs where students perform skits, songs, and dances celebrating the country’s history and achievements.
Security measures have been heightened across the country to ensure smooth celebrations. Police and other law enforcement agencies are deployed at major streets, markets, and event venues to maintain order and facilitate safe participation by citizens.
