LAHORE: Several sections of motorways have been closed to traffic due to dense fog, according to a spokesperson for the Motorway Police.
The spokesperson, Syed Imran Ahmed, said that the closures were implemented to ensure the safety of commuters, as traveling in heavy fog can be extremely dangerous.
He said Motorway M-3 has been closed from Jaranwala to Darkhana, M-4 from Faisalabad to Multan, and M-5 from Multan to Rohri. In addition, severe fog has also affected visibility on national highways in several areas.
The spokesperson said that fog is particularly dense in Kasowal, Iqbal Nagar, Chichawatni, Mian Channu, Khanewal, Multan, Basti Malook, Lodhran, and Bahawalpur, increasing the risk of road accidents.
Motorway Police advised motorists to strictly follow lane discipline, avoid unnecessary travel, and use fog lights while driving. Travelers were also urged to maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and refrain from speeding.
