Historic Milestone: PFF Appoints First Female Manager for Boys’ Team

LAHORE: In a groundbreaking move for Pakistani football, the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has appointed Arroj Sohail Butt as the manager of the Pakistan Under-17 boys’ football team — marking the first time a woman has held such a position in the country’s football history.

Arroj Sohail Butt, who currently serves as a Safeguarding Officer at PFF, brings with her certifications from both FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in safeguarding, underscoring her expertise and commitment to player welfare.

This pioneering appointment aligns with FIFA’s global policy promoting equal opportunities and gender inclusion across all levels of football.

The Pakistan Under-17 team is gearing up to compete in the upcoming South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship as well as the Asian qualifiers later this year, with Butt playing a crucial role in their preparations.

This historic decision not only breaks barriers but also sets a new precedent for women’s involvement in Pakistani sports administration.
