Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki said the Houthis targeted civilian areas with ballistic missiles and drones in Khamis Mushait, Abha and Taif.

Al-Maliki said the 13 injured civilians sustained minor to moderate injuries. He added that damage to civilian property reflected what he described as the Houthis’ continued attacks on residential areas and civilian infrastructure.

The coalition spokesperson said the alliance would take an effective and firm response to protect Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, its citizens and civilian facilities.

He said any Saudi response would be carried out under the right to self-defence recognised by Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and in accordance with international humanitarian law.

Al-Maliki added that the Saudi-led coalition would take all necessary military measures to prevent further attacks and counter Houthi actions.

The attacks come as tensions between Yemen and Saudi Arabia are again escalating, while the wider regional conflict has heightened security concerns across the Red Sea and Gulf region.
