Speaking on a private television programme, Ali clarified that although she had been rumoured to have received Rs100 million for the film, she did not receive the full amount. However, she said she was among the highest-paid actresses in the industry at the time.
Ali made her acting debut opposite actor Moammar Rana in Deewane Tere Pyar Ke. She explained that the reported payment included expenses related to filming abroad, as well as travel and other costs for members of her team.
She said her team included her brother, photographer Munna Mushtaq, one of his friends and Alia Imam. Their travel and other expenses were also covered as part of the overall arrangement, contributing to the total amount she received from the film’s producer.
Ali added that her fee was also influenced by her preferences regarding costumes, choreography and other aspects of the production.
The actress recalled that she had not been particularly enthusiastic about taking on the film and was already considering stepping away from modelling. She said her demands had made negotiations with the filmmakers challenging.
Ali also revealed that she had previously been offered a role in the film Jeeva during her modelling career but turned it down because of family restrictions. At the time, she said, continuing her modelling career had itself been difficult.
Ali eventually stepped away from the entertainment industry at the height of her career. She married businessman Imran Idris in 2021.
