The difficulties of PML-N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif have been further aggravated, Islamabad High Court (IHC) declared former three time prime minister Nawaz Sharif a fugitive hearing the appeals filed in Al-Azizia and Avenfield references.
Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiani of IHC have issued a written order declaring the former prime minister a fugitive, including issuing notices to Nawaz Sharif’s guarantors and process to confiscate bail bonds has been started.
Earlier in the day, a two-judge bench headed by Justice Amir Farooq heard Nawaz Sharif’s appeals in the Al-Azizia and Avenfield references in the Islamabad High Court. Certified receipts for delivering the court advertisement at Nawaz Sharif’s London residence via the British Royal Mail were also presented before the court.
Foreign Office Director Europe Mubashir Khan recorded a statement from the Royal Mail presenting Nawaz Sharif’s certified receipt for the delivery of advertisements. FIA officers Ijaz Ahmed and Tariq Masood recorded statements that advertisements had been pasted and made outside the residences of Nawaz Sharif’s Jatiya Amra and Model Town Lahore.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has rejected Nawaz Sharif’s appeals. Justice Amir Farooq said that they should assist the court and present judicial precedents as to what should be done about the appeal. Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked that this court also has to look into the conduct of Arshad Malik.
Justice Amir Farooq said that Judge Arshad Malik had given an affidavit which we had made part of the record under administrative powers. The court declared Nawaz Sharif a fugitive for not appearing before the court, despite the summons and issued a show cause notice to his guarantors and summoned them on December 9.
