SWAT: Following the recent Swat River incident in which at least 17 people were swept away by the flooding river, the district administration has resumed its operation against illegal encroachments on both sides of the river.
According to a report sent by the district administration to the provincial government, a total of 65 illegal structures—including shops, hotels, and parks—have been demolished so far during the ongoing operation.
The report states that 15.7 kanals of land have been reclaimed and approximately 2 kilometers of riverbank area has been cleared of encroachments. Additionally, legal cases have been registered against 25 individuals for constructing encroachments.
