Imran Khan to contest for three NA seats: PTI chairman

Says nomination papers will be submitted for PTI founder in Islamabad, Lahore and Mianwali.

ISLAMABAD: Founder of the PTI and former prime minister Imran Khan will contest for three National Assembly seats in the forthcoming general elections. 

Talking to media here on Wednesday, PTI chairman Gohar Ali Khan said the nomination papers for Imran Khan will be submitted in Islamabad, Lahore and Mianwali.

He said signatures of Imran Khan would be taken on nomination papers in jail. But he expressed the fears that hurdles would be made as he said he was today not allowed to take a plain paper inside the jail.

Gohar Khan was elected as the chairman of the PTI recently in the intra-party election of the party on the direction of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

The nomination papers are being submitted for the elections. Imran has been jailed in the cipher case while other cases are also pending against him.

The new PTI chairman said that the party has been demanding free and fair elections in the country for which a level-playing field be was necessary for all political parties. 

He said his party was not asking for the removal of the chief election commissioner, but the PTI, like other parties, should be given free hand to run its election campaign. 

He said it efforts were made to rob on the democratic rights of the people, its consequences would not be good for the nation and for democracy.
