ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan was shifted late last night to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) under strict security arrangements for a scheduled eye treatment follow-up.

According to hospital administration, Khan was transported from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi to PIMS as part of a pre-planned medical schedule. During the visit, he was administered the second dose of an anti-VEGF intravitreal injection for his eye condition. After completion of the procedure, he was moved back to jail.

Officials stated that Khan had previously visited PIMS on the night of January 24 and 25 for examination and treatment, during which doctors recommended a series of three injections. The second dose has now been administered, while the third injection is expected to be given on March 23.

The Executive Director of PIMS confirmed that a board of specialist doctors conducted a complete medical examination before administering the injection.

The hospital said the procedure was performed in the operation theatre under the supervision of ophthalmology and vitreoretinal surgery specialists, following standard medical protocols. The treatment was carried out as a day-care procedure after obtaining the patient’s formal consent.

PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan also confirmed the completion of Khan’s eye treatment at PIMS. He said the party was informed after the medical examination and confirmed that Khan had been shifted back to Adiala Jail following treatment.
