Increasing tax-to-GDP ratio govt’s priority: minister

WB promises financial support to facilitate Pakistan in achieving its developmental objectives.

ISLAMABAD: A World Bank delegation led by South Asia Regional Vice President Martin Raiser held a meeting with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb here, says a press release.

The minister briefed the delegation on the macro-economic situation of the country and efforts of the government for stabilization of the economy. 

He said that increasing tax-to-the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) ration and reducing costs in energy sector, privatization and human capital development were the priority areas in the government’s reform programs.

The World Bank vice president was urged by the finance minister to align country partnership framework with the priority reform areas of the new government.

Speaking on the occasion, WB Vice President Martin Raiser said the World Bank Group will provide necessary support to the government in implementing its reform agenda.

He said the World Bank would extend technical assistance and financial support to facilitate Pakistan in achieving its developmental objectives.
