NEW DELHI: The Modi regime in India is considering closing down the Kartarpur Corridor with Pakistan as a punishment for the Sikh community.
At a press conference, a spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs indicated closing down the corridor.
The Kartarpur Corridor is used by the Sikh community of India to visit their religious places in Pakistan.
The corridor was opened by Pakistan in 2019 after the Modi regime agreed to opening the area on its side.
Indian devotees visiting the shrine via Kartarpur Corridor from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district are charged service fee of US $20.
Relations between the Sikh community and the Indian government have been strained after Canada accused the Modi regime of orchastrating the murder of Khalistan Movement leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Vancouver in June this year.
The closing down of the corridor will also be another serious blow to the tense relationship between Pakistan and India.
The opening of the corridor in 2019 was declared a positive move towards normalization of relations between the two countries.
However, the Modi regime has lost no chance to sabotage efforts of those who want the two countries to promote their bilateral ties.
