ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif stated that it is currently too early to make definitive comments regarding Pakistan hosting the Iran-US negotiations.
However, he said that Pakistan’s constructive and proactive role in facilitating the talks has drawn sharp criticism from India.
Addressing the media, Khawaja Asif openly criticized the Indian leadership, pointing out that a small group of individuals, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, appears frustrated and displeased with Pakistan’s mediation efforts.
He questioned, “Those who are taunting Pakistan over its mediation efforts, what were they themselves doing in Ukraine?” He further noted that India has attempted to claim credit for mediation in the ongoing Ukraine conflict, yet the war there remains unresolved.
The Defence Minister reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue to pursue its diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region.
He made it clear that the country will not be intimidated or deterred by criticism from neighboring states and will persist in playing a positive role for regional peace and security.
