Indian aircraft makes emergency landing in Karachi

Pilot sought permission to land saying a passenger on board had suffered epilepsy attack.

KARACHI: An Indian passenger plane had to make an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport Karachi, officials told local media on Sunday.

The officials of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said the plane was going to Europe from New Delhi when it contacted the air traffic controller at the airport and sought permission to land saying a passenger had suffered epilepsy attack.

After permission was granted under the international aviation protocol, the aircraft made an emergency landing at the airport. Medical staff was sent to the aircraft who provided treatment to the patient. However, no passenger was permitted to disembark form the plane.

After about two hours when the patient stabilized, the plane took off and continued its journey to its destination.
