Indian delegates led by FM Jaishankar arrive for summit

Kyrgyztan Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov also arrives to attend summit to begin soon.

ISLAMABAD: Indian Minister for External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar arrived in Islamabad to attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s summit which is starting on Tuesday.

The Indian delegates were received at the Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It’s after about 10 years that any foreign minister of India is visiting Pakistan as relations between the two countries remained tense, especially after Narendra Modi’s BJP party came to power in India.

Earlier in the day, the deputy chairman cabinet of Turkmenistan Rashid Muridov arrived in Islamabad and was received by federal minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

Kyrgyztan Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov also landed at the Nur Khan Airbase and was received by Petroleum Minister Musadik Malik.

Chinese Prime Minister arrived in Islamabad on Monday and was welcomed by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif at the Nur Khan Airbase. He later visited the Prime Minister Office and held talks with authorities there.
