Indian diplomatic staff goes back amid rising hostility

LAHORE: Amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, a 22-member Indian diplomatic delegation has returned to India via the Wagah Border.

The delegation included three Indian diplomats and their family members.

According to sources, in the first phase, one Indian diplomat and eight staff members departed for India yesterday through the Wagah crossing. Additionally, two family members associated with the Indian High Commission also returned home.

In the second phase, two more diplomats, eleven staff members, and two family members crossed the border back into India. Indian High Commission diplomat Rahul Kumar Rakesh and other staff members bid farewell to the departing delegates.

Analysts believe this diplomatic withdrawal reflects the deteriorating trust and rising hostility between the two neighboring countries. The development is feared to further strain diplomatic relations.
